Today is the launch of Architecture Week, a celebration of contemporary architecture marked by over 800 events taking place nationwide. The theme for 2007 is 'How Green Is Our Space?' and the events will last until 24 June.

The event will open with the architect Frank Gehry and film director Sydney Pollack holding two discussions of their work, one at RIBA at 7pm tonight and the second at the University of Liverpool on Monday.

Highlights of Architecture Week include Wind to Light by Jason Bruges on London's Southbank, The Sonic Shed Project by Amenity Space and Resonance FM in Yorkshire and London and the Ecohouse in Norwich.

On 18-19 June, at the Royal Institute of British Architects the public can have their household's carbon footprint assessed by Dave Hampton, a carbon coach, who will offer green housing tips.
