The London Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) - the organisation put together to oversee construction for the 2012 London Olympics – has chosen its shortlist of contractors for construction of roads, bridges and highways.

ODA Director of Infrastructure Simon Wright says work is expected to start on construction in early 2008.

Contractors will be required to work together to increase connectivity between transport infrastructure while taking note of the current public amenities.

"This is a challenging project which requires teams to deliver a mixture of permanent and temporary structures which meet Games-time needs but which also leave behind infrastructure for use by the legacy communities after 2012," Write says.

"The structures, roads and bridges will be key to joining the various parts of the Olympic Park jigsaw together.
