Three design teams are now in the running to win the tender for a San Francisco skyscraper that will be the city's new Transit Centre, replacing the old Transbay Terminal with high-speed rail access, multi-use areas and more.
Millenium Dome architect and one time partner of Norman Foster, Richard Rogers has made the shortlist with Forest City Enterprises with MacFarlane Partners, Skidmore Owings and Merrill and Rockefeller Group Development Corporation and Pelli Clark Pelli Architects and Hines.
The end design of Transbay Terminal at First and Mission Streets will be selected, according to the Transbay Joint Power Authority, for iconic properties, how it affects the city skyline and 'green' and seismic building requirements.
Building is expected to start in 2010 following design selection on September 20 this year.
