The UK local government of Brighton and Hove has approved a new £50m sporting stadium – designed to carefully fit the local rolling landscape – for the Brighton & Hove Football club.

Designed by British architect firm KSS, the 22,500-seat community stadium will feature a curved 'butterfly' roof that mimics surrounding hills and will house club offices, retail outlets, corporate hospitality facilities, education spaces and two local colleges, as well as a community learning hub.

An independent energy centre and on-site park and ride facilities will also be built into the design, which has been under preparation since 1998.

Civil and structural engineers Bianchi Morely, Webb Yates and Hemsley Orrell Partnership as well as ME Engineers, Currie & Brown quantity surveyors and Hyland Edgar Driver landscape architects will also work on the design with RLF health and safety consultants.
