UK architect Dr Donald Reeve Buttress has received an OBE (Order of the British Empire) for his work repairing some of the nation's best cathedrals including Westminster Abbey.

The founder of Buttress Fuller Alsop & Williams in 1978, the 75-year-old was the only architect to be honoured in this years New Years honours list.

The OBE is the second highest honour received by the British Monarchy.
