The city, to be built by Dubai-based developer Nakheel, will provide homes for a prospective 1.5 million people, doubling Dubai’s population and creating approximately one million jobs.
Covering a total floor area of 11,800,00m², the design compromises a central island surrounded by four neighbouring districts – the Boulevard, Madinat Al Soor, the Resort and the Marina.

The city has a predicted residential population of 92,000 and working population of 310,000 people.
