The Visionaire apartment building designed by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects and the Battery Park Conservancy's maintenance facility, designed by Dattner Architects have taken the honours in New York's Green Building Competition.

The award was handed out by the environmental Protection Agency and the Mayor's Office of Long-Term Planning and Sustainability in recognition of environmentally sensitive features.

The Visionaire takes 112 cars off the road, uses all its rainwater, and tells you how much energy you're using during your visit. It also uses 100% fresh air ventilation and is built with at least 20% of its building materials made within 500 miles.

The Battery Park Conservancy's maintenance facility is geothermally heated and cooled.
