Zaha Hadid's Guangzhou Opera House in China has been damaged by a blaze.

According to media reports, the fire, which has now been extinguished, started early on Saturday morning. No one was hurt and all staff were evacuated safely.

The extent of the damage to the 46,000m² opera house, which was still under construction, is unknown. The 1bn-yuan project was expected to open later this year.

In February Rem Koolhaas's 159m Television Cultural Centre was also severely damaged by fire.
