Lord Foster Wins Prince of Asturias Award

Lord Norman Foster has been chosen as the 29th laureate of Spain's prestigious Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts, it was announced today.

The British architect will be formally presented with the prize at an October ceremony in Oviedo, Spain, presided over by HRH the Prince of Asturias, heir to the throne of Spain.

"I am thrilled to accept the Prince of Asturias Award. It is a tremendous honour and a wonderful recognition of the importance of design as a catalyst in improving the quality of life," Lord Foster said.

The awards recognise scientific, technical, cultural, social and humanistic work carried out at an international level by individuals, institutions, groups of people or groups of institutions.
