The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has announced the launch of a design competition for four seafront shelters and a kiosk at Bexhill-on-Sea in East Sussex, UK.

Organised by the RIBA Competitions Office on behalf of Rother District Council's 'Next Wave' project, the project's construction value of £220,000 is part of a wider £5m cultural regeneration programme for the region.

The Bexhill competition offers architecture firms the opportunity to create innovative architecture in a special seafront setting, according to building.co.uk, quoting a senior jury panel member.

The deadline for stage one design submissions is 12 August 2009.

The UK Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) has donated £1m of funding under its Sea Change programme.
