The four-star-plus 260-room Novotel hotel at Auckland Airport will be built by Accor Hospitality, Tainui Group Holdings and Auckland International Airport.

Tainui will act as lead developer and investor in the project with Auckland Airport holding a minority share, while Accor Hospitality will manage the hotel.

The total estimated cost of the project is $65m, with about $45m going to the hotel construction alone.

Warren & Mahoney Architects will design the hotel, based in designs that integrate the island’s culture and cuisine.

The construction is scheduled to be completed before the Rugby World Cup in 2011.
