Diamond and Schmitt to Design Second Stage in Mariinsky Theatre

Russia's Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg has selected Canadian architectural firm Diamond and Schmitt Architects to build its second stage. The firm will develop the opera and ballet house after the initial contract awarded to French architect Dominique Perrault was annulled in 2003

Russia's Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg has selected Canadian architectural firm Diamond and Schmitt Architects to build its second stage.

The firm will develop the opera and ballet house after the initial contract awarded to French architect Dominique Perrault was annulled in 2003 because of delays.

Diamond and Schmitt, have teamed up with Saint Petersburg construction firm ViPS for the €700,000 project, which is due to be completed in 2011.
