Global investment banking and securities firm Goldman Sachs has announced it has almost completed its New World Headquarters Building in New York.

Designed by Pei Cobb Freed & Partners, the $2.4bn, 43-storey glass and steel tower is spread across 2.1 billion square feet of space and will house more than 9,000 employees.

The building will comprise six high-tech trading floors, 30 floors of office space and three floors of meeting and amenity space on the lower floors.

The company has kept the details of the building firmly under wraps but it is believed exercise, dining and meeting areas will be created on the 10th and 12th floors, while a 5,000ft² retail arcade will surround the tower and reconnect walkways to surrounding buildings, shopping areas and the Hudson River Park.

The building is expected to open later this year.
