Kier Group has been chosen as the preferred bidder to build £200m worth of sports and learning facilities across the borough of Telford and Wrekin Council in the UK.

As part of the contract the firm will demolish the existing school in order to replace it with learning centres featuring sports and community areas.

The work will commence in March 2010. The first of these facilities, the Abraham Darby Sports and Learning Community, is expected to be complete in September 2011.

The current project is part of the larger Building Schools for the Future project and is Kier Group's 14th project secured through the Academies Framework.
