The UK’s Audit Commission has criticised the the £61m Curve Theatre project designed by Rafael Viñoly for going over budget and opening behind schedule.
The commission said the lack of finalised design plans resulted in a cost escalation from the initial £26m earmarked for the development.
Work on the project began in 2000 with Rafael Viñoly appointed as the architect in 2002. The theatre was opened in 2008, two years behind schedule.
