ABC to Invite Tenders for New Melbourne Building

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) will invite tenders from architects to build its new $90m facility in Melbourne, Australia. The 3,618m² facility is expected to be built within the next two years and be operational by June 2012. The proposed site in Southbank is

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) will invite tenders from architects to build its new $90m facility in Melbourne, Australia.

The 3,618m² facility is expected to be built within the next two years and be operational by June 2012.

The proposed site in Southbank is currently used as a car park and was purchased by ABC in December 1999 for $5.36m.

ABC's headquarters in 120 Southbank Boulevard will also be upgraded as part of the project.

The proposed project will be Australia's first commercial project since 2007 and is currently awaiting the Australian Government's approval.
