UK-based Arup Group’s plans to expand the Pinewood film studies have been rejected by the local council.

The £200m expansion, known as Project Pinewood, would include a mixed-use film set and residential development at Pinewood studios.

The expansion involves building up to 1,500 homes, a primary school, indoor and outdoor sports facilities, cinema, theatre and music production plans and an array of streets similar to cities such as New York, Paris and Venice.

Degradation of the local environment was cited as the reason for the government’s refusal to the proposed development.
