Danish practice 3XN has been awarded a contract to transform existing freight train halls into a cultural centre in Aarhus, Denmark.

The 9,000m² centre will be a central hub for arts and other educational facilities and features green spaces contrasting with the existing freight halls.

The existing halls will be renovated and a new building with a large auditorium will be built.

The design features green spaces on the building's roof along with inclusion of other green measures such as natural ventilation, decreased water consumption and reduced lighting.
