UK practice Bell Phillips + Kimble Architects has been selected to design a structure to sit on an old gas holder in London, UK.

The site, at King's Cross, will be converted into an events space, a rooftop water pool and an amphitheatre.

The design firm made use of the 25m-tall Grade II-listed structure's canalside location.

Originally constructed in the 1850s the King's Cross gas holders are currently being refurbished as part of on going redevelopment.

Work on the £2.5m project is expected to begin in 2011.
