UK practice LDA Design has been awarded a contract to design the Burgess Park in Southwark, London, UK.

LDA Design was announced as the winner of the Mayor of London's premier park competition.

The park received £2m from London Mayor Boris Johnson under the premier park programme to protect and enhance the site.

It also received £4m from the Aylesbury New Deal for Communities.

LDA Design beat five other shortlisted firms with its design that addressed the issue of ecology throughout the park.

New green spaces, improved entrances, horticultural planting, improving the lake, removing redundant roads and pathways and better defined boundaries will be part of the redevelopment.
