UK firm Ian Simpson Architects has been awarded a contract to refurbish the Grade II-listed Manchester town hall extension by Manchester City Council.
The refurbishment is part of a £165m Town Hall Complex Transformation project.
Ryder Architects has been appointed to work on restoration and revamp of the Central Library, also a Grade II-listed building.
The project spanning four years will also include redevelopment of St Peter’s Square, for which a design competition is expected to be launched in January 2010.
The project will also include the creation of a new customer service centre.
