UK practice David Morley Architects has been appointed to design the temporary water polo venue in East London for the 2012 Olympic Games.

The contract for the 5,000-seat arena has been awarded by the Olympic Delivery Authority through its design services framework.

Construction is expected to start in 2011 and is expected to be completed within a year.

The arena will be removed after the Games and the land will be developed by the Olympic Park Legacy Company.
