Abu Dhabi’s leaning tower, Capital Gate Tower, has reached its full height of 160m.
Designed by UK architecture firm RMJM, the tower leans at an angle of 18°, 14° more than the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy, and is set to enter the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s most leaning structure.
The tower will house a Hyatt hotel and features 189 rooms, office space and a cantilevered tea house on the 18 floor on the eastern portion of the façade, which also features a sun terrace and pool.
Capital Gate Tower is part of the AED8bn ($2.17bn) CapitalCity development project for business and residential complexes.
The tower is being developed by Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) and is expected to be complete in 2010.
