Software company Makayama has released an application for the iPhone that details architectural highlights for worldwide destinations. The GPS-based tool has a database of more than 1,000 pictures showing landmarks in 270 cities across the globe, including information on how to find them.

Some information can be accessed without an internet connection, including general details about the buildings and their architects.

The application can be tested for free on iTunes.
