The number of unemployed architects has fallen for the third successive month in the UK, and is now close to the figure posted in April 2009.

Unemployment benefits are now claimed by 1,595 architects in comparison with 1,765 in October.

In August, 2,055 architects were on the dole – 6% of registered architects, the highest unemployment number recorded to date.

Just below 5% of all registered architects were unemployed in November, however, the number has doubled this year in comparison with the same period in 2008.
