24 finalists for the 'NOW + WHEN Australian Urbanism' exhibition at the upcoming 2010 Venice Architecture Biennale have been announced.

Two dozen of more than 100 entries have been accepted for the national 'Ideas for Australia's Cities 2050+' competition, run by the Australian Institute of Architects' 2010 Venice Architecture Biennale creative directors, John Gollings and Ivan Rijavec.

The team's two-part exhibition will highlight three of Australia's urban regions as they are 'now', and represent around seven futuristic urban environments as they may be when we reach 2050.

Each submission covered future challenges such as population growth, environmental degradation, dwindling resources and climate change.
