Croatian practice Njiric + Arhitekti has designed a sustainable stadium, the Blue Volcano Stadium in Zagreb, Croatia.

The stadium shaped like a solar cloud can harvest renewable energy and is housed within an artificial hill made of recycled rubber.

The stadium, dubbed the ‘Cloud’, has a blue pigment that is sprayed onto corrugated aluminium sheets.

The 188,905m² stadium features sewn-in photovoltaic cells to generate renewable energy and is topped by an open roof that allows natural light to enter the premises.

The balloon structure envelops the central area and offers shade.
