The world’s tallest building in Dubai has been renamed Burj Khalifa in honour of current President of the UAE and ruler of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al Nahyan.
The ruler recently bailed out Dubai to the tune of $10bn and saved it from the financial crisis.
The structure stands at a final height of 828m, taller than the previous record holder, Taipei 101.
The $1.5bn tower houses 900 residences, 37 floors of office space, a fine dining restaurant and an observation deck.
The tower has been built in a Y-shape with three wings evenly distributing the building’s weight in order to ensure the tower does not twist or break during bad weather.
