German practice Henn Architekten has announced it will design the headquarters for the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The 42-storey tower is expected to be the tallest building in Ethiopia upon completion.

The design features a gap in the façade on the longer sides of the building. The glass skin will have a reduced reflection, offering views inside the building.

The openness continues to base level, where the building’s entrance area will be revealed.

A new conference centre and a shopping mall will be part of the tower. The buildings will be clustered around a sunken landscaped plaza.

The scheme is expected to be complete within five years.
