US-based Cannon Design has been awarded a contract to design and engineer the University of Colorado's new Anschutz Inpatient Pavilion in Aurora.

The $300m tower can accommodate 200 beds and features an expanded emergency department, surgical services, imaging, cardiac and vascular services, and a new parking garage.

The inpatient pavilion and the medical campus have been named for Denver entrepreneur Philip Anschutz in recognition to the large donations his foundation has made over the years in order to support the area's expanding medical complex.
