A new knowledge enrichment centre (KEC), designed by Allies and Morrison, has been unveiled by Qatari developer DohaLand.

The floating scheme is moored in the sea just off the Doha Corniche.

The landmark structure will serve as a microcosm of the Musheireb development.

The unveiling of the KEC also marks the beginning of construction of phase 1A of the 35ha Musheireb development.

The structure has a steel hull and uses natural materials such as timber and stone as building materials.

The KEC is 91m long and 24m wide, with a floor area of 1,200m².

The design incorporates traditional Qatari architectural concepts including a baraha (informal entry courtyard), malkaf (fountain), majlis (VIP meeting place), terrace and exhibition galleries.
