A town hall complex transformation project has been announced by Manchester City Council in England.

The £165m project will involve redesigning St Peter's Square and Library Walk into a new landmark public space.

The design will, however, retain the cenotaph and Metrolink stops in St Peter's Square.

The four-year transformation programme will include a Simpson's refurbishment of the extension to Manchester Town Hall and the Ryder Architects restoration and revamp of the Central Library.

Manchester Town Hall and Central Library are Grade II listed buildings.
