UK practice Wilkinson Eyre Architects is to submit plans for the proposed revamp and restoration of Oxford University’s New Bodleian Library building.
The £78m ($118.3m) revamp of the Grade II-listed library, will involve provision of improved storage and preservation space, while increasing public access and modernising infrastructure and facilities.
The project will involve the temporary rehousing of 3.5 million books and historic manuscripts from the landmark building at the famous university.
The new designs were recently revealed in a public exhibition of the scheme.
Work is expected to be complete within five years, and the building will open in 2015.
The 1940s building was originally designed by Giles Gilbert Scott.
