French practice Design Crew for Architecture has designed a bubble-shaped sustainable skyscraper to desalinate seawater, which will be built in Almeria, Spain.

The green tower will be made up of several circular tanks housed in spherical greenhouses containing brackish water.

The tanks will be filled with mangroves, which can convert saltwater into potable water without consuming electricity.

Mangrove plants perspire fresh water. Following evaporation, the condensed water will be collected in freshwater tanks.
