The International Living Building Institute (ILBI) has unveiled a new building rating system.

The new rating system, Living Building Challenge (LBC), version two, means the building is accountable for local food production, social justice, community scale impacts and unrestricted access to nature to achieve the highest level of sustainability.

The new version comprises seven performance areas, or petals, which are subdivided into 20 imperatives. It has been expanded to include small in-home remodels, and community initiatives and infrastructure, according to journalofcommerce.com.
