The £32m ($48.5m) overhaul plan for the Old Trafford cricket ground in Lancashire, UK, has been given the green light by Trafford Council.
Lancashire Cricket Club said it would begin construction work this year in a bid to save the venue’s international status, according to allbusiness.com.
The design features two new grandstands to accommodate 15,000 and 10,000 temporary seats. It also includes the construction of a 10,000m² Tesco supermarket adjacent to the ground.
The work will add new player and media facilities, floodlights and a giant screen.
The project is awaiting formal approval by the local government office.
