The design-build contract for the US Federal Courthouse in Richmond, Virginia, has been awarded to local firm Versar. Funded through the Recovery Act stimulus programme the $900,000 project is set to begin in May and will involve installing a 115kW rooftop-mounted photovoltaic system.

The Spottswood W Robinson III and Robert R Merhige, Jr US Federal Courthouse will also feature a solar energy plant 40m above street level.
Versar has also been awarded a $1.3m contract to build a liquid oxygen storage plant in Lorton, Virginia, for the Griffith Water Treatment Plant.
