The Boulevard apartment project in Dubai will be delayed by two years until 2012, according to a letter sent to buyers by developer Emaar Properties.

Designed by US-based practice Frank Williams and Partners Associates, the 45-storey buildings were originally scheduled to be completed this month.

To date, only foundation work has been completed at the project site, according to businessweek.com.

Emaar, which built the Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest skyscraper, put all new real-estate projects on hold in February 2009 to stem a decline in prices.
