A £75m ($114.3m) eco-friendly local council building to be located opposite Wembley Arena in London, UK, has won detailed consent from Brent Council.

Designed by Hopkins Architects, the Brent civic development will feature a library, a council services centre, a community hall and offices.

Touted to be the greenest building in the UK, the scheme will incorporate low-carbon technology with a combined cooling, heating and power system running on waste vegetable oil.

Scott Wilson will provide advice on town planning, environmental, structural design and sustainable technology.

The structure is expected to be complete in 2013, according to cnplus.co.uk.
