The recently renovated Allbritton Center for the Study of Public Life at Wesleyan University, Connecticut, US, has received LEED Gold certification from the US Green Building Council.

The Allbritton Center renovation spanned nine months and was completed in August 2009.

Rebuilding involved using 11% recycled materials and 84% wood-based materials.

It is equipped with low-flush toilets, resulting in 46.4% water-use reduction, while a mechanical system provides fresh air to maintain the indoor air quality.

The centre also provides two parking spaces for fuel efficient vehicles.
