French practice Olgga Architects has unveiled the design for a new sports centre for Grande Synthe in France.

The structure's roof, terraces and base function together as a single entity.

Rugby and soccer facilities and administrative offices will be housed in the base while the hollow, covered terrace will accommodate audiences.

The roof is equipped with solar thermal panels and 10,800ft² of photovoltaic membranes to help meet electricity demands.

The sustainable facility will also feature a retaining pond and a water treatment plant.

Construction of the centre is expected to begin before the end of this year, according to ecofriend.org.
