Architects and architectural services in Northern Ireland have undergone a severe slump in the two years up to November 2009, according to a new report.

The Irish construction sector saw half of its professional services, including architects, quantity surveyors and civil engineers, out of work.

Construction Industry Council member Dr Linda Martin said the construction industry is expected to remain in recession this year before returning to modest growth in 2011.

Employment for 2012 is expected to be nearly 11% below the 2008 peak, according to the BBC.
