The work will involve the expansion of the museum by 10,310m² to a site across the Grand-Allée with a tunnel linking the existing arts building to the new one.

The $90m project will receive $33.7m from the federal government and another $33.7m from the Quebec Government, with the remaining amount expected to come from a fundraising campaign.

Construction work for the project will begin in 2011 and is scheduled to be complete by 2013, according to cbc.ca.
