A LEED Platinum certificate from the US Green Building Council has been awarded to Comcast's Sonoma County Operations Center in California, USA.

The scheme is located in a 200-acre redevelopment at Sonoma Mountain Village and has been built by Codding Enterprises.

The 35,000ft² zero-carbon centre provides maintenance and field service for Comcast's advanced digital video, high-speed internet and telephone communications system.

The company said the scheme uses just 46% water, has recycled 98% of construction waste and is equipped with advanced lighting fixtures which consume 35% less energy.

The fully solar powered structure used sustainable building materials, and is outfitted with advanced air filtration, which provides 30% fresh air.
