Danish practice Henning Larsen Architects has unveiled the designs for a new concert and congress centre, Palacio de Congresos, to be located in Arrecife, Lanzarote, Canary Islands.
The crystalline centre’s design resembles the jagged landscape of the island.
Its elevated main entrance hall opens towards the ocean promenade, while the collective foyer offers views of the city and park.
The centre is outfitted with intelligent energy-saving systems to reduce the building’s impact on the environment.
The structure is clad in a layer of semi-intelligent shadow-providing shells, which regulate interior temperature, and solar cells will generate electricity to power the building, according to ecofriend.org.
