A LEED Gold certificate for commercial interior design from the US Green Building Council has been awarded to HomeAway's new headquarters in Texas, US.

HomeAway is the first mixed-use project and the second company in Austin to achieve the rating.

The three-storey building, which achieved 34 points out of a possible 39 for the certification, was delivered by CTA Architects Engineers.

The building employs energy-efficient and sustainable strategies, and has been developed in a convenient location for promoting eco-friendly transportation.

CTA said the facility reduced energy consumption as 50% of energy is generated by solar and wind power.

The 51,000ft² structure used locally sourced recycled building materials and is equipped with low-flow plumbing fixtures that will save an estimated 234,000gal of water a year.

HomeAway is an online vacation rental marketplace service provider.
