The UK's Transport for London, in collaboration with the London Festival of Architecture 2010, will launch a competition to design a 21st-century "New London Skyline".

The designs will be displayed on the merchandise on sale during the London Festival of Architectur, to be held between 19 June and 4 July this year.

Architects, designers, artists or creative members over the age of 18 are urged to design a contemporary view of the city skyline incorporating London's heritage.

The winning design will receive a prize of £1,000 ($1,536).

The theme of the London Festival of Architecture in 2010 is "The Welcoming City".
