Intel Corporation has received its first LEED Gold certificate from the US Green Building Council for the Intel Design Centre 9 (IDC 9) in Haifa, Israel.
The new centre, which will open in June this year, has been built on a parking lot and is the first building in Israel to receive this rating.
IDC 9's sustainable features aid in reducing power and energy consumption through energy-efficient fixtures.
The centre also features a rooftop garden to prevent the building from retaining excessive heat, while an automatic system measures the level of carbon dioxide levels to help improve air quality.
The sustainable design of IDC 9 results in 17% reduction in overall building energy use.
