US Varsity Art Museum to Open Next Year

The new Chazen Museum of Art at the University of Washington in Seattle, US, is expected to open on 22 October 2011. The museum is currently undergoing expansion upgrades including revamped gallery spaces with 21ft ceilings which is expected to double the size of the facility.

Machado and Silvetti Associates are designing the building located on the former Peterson Building site and is funded by private donors.

The 86,000ft² scheme features a 4,000ft² lobby, which will be linked to the existing building by a third-floor walkway, according to isthmus.com.

The original building was designed by architect Harry Weese.
