Plans have been unveiled for the Royal Air Force Museum's new landmark building, to be built in Hendon, London.

The building, provisionally titled the Battle of Britain Beacon, is part of the RAF Museum's modernisation and development plan.

When completed, the £80m ($118m) structure is expected to house Battle of Britain aircraft, memorabilia and archives used during World War II commemorating the battle for the UK's skies.

The scheme will be constructed from steel and glass, feature a high-speed lift and is expected to offer wider public access.

The project will be privately funded.
